Wudu
Ablution is an important type of worship in terms of material and spiritual cleanliness. Prophet Muhammad PBUH said: “Listen to me carefully! Shall I inform you about the deeds through which Allah eliminates mistakes and elevates your ranks? To make wudu fully and properly despite its difficulties, to go to mosque from a distant place and to wait for the next prayer after a prayer” (Nasai)
1. Intention (Niyyah)
Make the Intention: Begin by mentally making the intention to perform Wudu for worship. This is a silent intention and does not need to be spoken out loud.
2. Say “Bismillah” (In the Name of Allah)
Invoke Allah’s Name: Start the Wudu by saying “Bismillah” (In the name of Allah) to seek blessings.
3. Wash the Hands
Wash Both Hands: Wash both hands up to the wrists three times, starting with the right hand and then the left.
4. Rinse the Mouth (Madmadah)
Rinse the Mouth: Take water into your mouth and rinse it thoroughly three times.
5. Rinse the Nose (Istinshaq)
Clean the Nose: Inhale water gently into your nose and then expel it three times. This process is called Istinshaq.

Wash the Face: Wash the entire face from the forehead to the chin and from ear to ear three times.
7. Wash the Arms
Wash the Arms: Wash the right arm up to the elbow three times, followed by the left arm up to the elbow three times.
8. Wipe the Head (Masah)
Wipe the Head: Wet your hands and pass them over the entire head, starting from the forehead to the back of the head, then bring them back to the forehead. This is done once.
9. Wipe the Ears
Clean the Ears: With the same wet hands, clean the inside of both ears using the index fingers and the outside of the ears with the thumbs. This is done once.
10. Wash the Feet
Wash the Feet: Wash the right foot up to the ankles three times, making sure to clean between the toes. Repeat for the left foot.
11. Recite the Shahada
Declare Faith: After completing Wudu, it is Sunnah (recommended) to recite the Shahada: “Ashhadu a la ilaha illallah wa ashhadu anna Muhammadan abduhu wa rasuluhu” (I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger).
12. Du’a After Wudu (Optional)
Make Supplication: It is recommended to recite the following Du’a: “Allahumma-j’alni minat-tawwabeen waj’alni minal-mutatahhirin” (O Allah, make me among those who turn in repentance and make me among those who are purified).
Key Points to Remember:
- Order: Wudu should be performed in the order described.
- Continuity: The steps of Wudu should be performed without long interruptions.
- Amount of Water: Use water sparingly; Wudu does not require excessive use of water.
